Unlocking the mysteries of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom requires players to venture into hidden locations and resolve ancient storylines. Among the most pivotal main quests in the game is the search for the floating stone structures hovering above Kakariko Village. Mastering this questline allows players to progress toward finding the elusive Fifth Sage and uncovering critical lore about the Zonai civilization.

Prerequisites and Unlocking the Main Quest

Before you can initiate this quest, you must make substantial progress in the main storyline. Players need to complete all four temples associated with the Regional Phenomena quest and resolve the initial events at Hyrule Castle. Additionally, ensure you have unlocked the Camera ability through the earlier underground missions with Purah and Josha.

Once these conditions are satisfied, return to Kakariko Village to find Tauro and Chief Paya standing near the forbidden floating ring. Zelda had previously barred anyone from entering this area, but you will now receive official permission to investigate inside.

Investigating the Floating Ring Ruins

To examine the interior, ascend the wooden scaffolding positioned right below the main floating ruin. Position yourself on top of the structure and use the Ascend ability to pass through the ceiling into the inner chamber. Inside, you will discover an ancient stone slab engraved with Zonai inscriptions.

Pull out your Purah Pad camera and snap a clear photo of the stone slab. Descend back down to the ground level and show the picture to Tauro so he can decipher the ancient writing. The translated text directs your journey toward the Faron region near Dracozu Lake.

Solving the Faron River Riddle

Travel to Popla Foothills Skyview Tower and meet with Calip before heading southeast toward Dracozu Lake. You will locate Tauro inside a small cave along the winding river. He will present you with a riddle detailing a requirement to wear specific electric-themed armor pieces.

Search the nearby ruins along the serpent-shaped river to retrieve all three parts of the Charged Armor Set from hidden chests. Once fully equipped in this attire, proceed to the altar at the end of the river, place a Zonai Charge on the pedestal, and watch as a dramatic storm clears the sky above.

Navigating to Dragonhead Island

With the dense storm clouds parted, use the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower to launch yourself high into the atmosphere. Paraglide southeast toward the newly revealed Thunderhead Isles archipelago. Work your way across the flying islands using a combination of gliding and ascending mechanics.

Your ultimate destination is the head of the archipelago known as Dragonhead Island. Note that opening the large sealed door at the end requires a minimum of ten full Heart Containers. Beyond this door lies the relic that officially concludes the quest and unlocks the path to the Spirit Temple.
